ROKVISS/KONTUR ends

ROKVISS/KONTUR ends after 16 years in operation.

After almost exactly 16 years of operational readiness, the era of the project 'Kontur' (formerly ROKVISS) is officially and definitively coming to an end by mutual agreement between DLR Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics (RMC) and the Russian project partners.

STT's S-Band TMTC-unit CUP and its hemispherical antenna was mounted on the outer wall of the Russian service module Zvezda at the ISS on January 26, 2005 during a six-hour space walk (EVA).

STT's communication system (CUP) provided within the 16 years of operation in space, always reliable, high-speed bi-directional data links between the ground station and the robotic experiments ROKVISS and KONTUR.
