PAZ satellite 6 years in orbit

PAZ has been delivering images at any time of the day and in any weather for 6 years.

The spanish earth observation satellite PAZ successfully launched on February 22, 2018 at 3:17 p.m. (CET) with a  Falcon-9 rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California/USA. The contract to build PAZ was awarded by Hisdesat to Astrium on November 6, 2008. Astrium handed over the satellite to Hidesat on September 17, 2013.

Since its launch, the satellite has generated over 130.000 images, for both civilian and military purpose. The applications are diverse: monitoring of the earth's surface, border control, tactical support of missions abroad, crisis management and risk assessment of natural disasters, envirionmental monitoring, monitoring of the marine environment, etc..

PAZ orbits the Earth 15 times a day at an altitude of 514 km. It can take over 100 images a day with a resolution of up to 25 cm. Covering an area of over 300,000 square kilometers, PAZ can access any location on Earth every 24 hours, with a repeat cycle of 11 days.

STT has developed and delivered the S-Band TMTC-unit. Communication with the groundstations works flawless.
